It is directly wired but through a float switch which is either stuck in the up position or internally shorted and this needs to be fixed first. A bilge pump is designed to run dry without damage.

You should start a new thread for this topic. Also not sure I understand the question, are you asking the WOT for this engine? 4400-4800 rpm.

Well if the pump is running and moving water there is nothing wrong with it. The pump gets power from two sources; the helm switch or the float switch. I am assuming you did not leave the helm switch...
