It really does not matter, try to match up...

It really does not matter, try to match up mounting and hose placement to make it easy. Also match or exceed flow rate.

If they do not light up when in the on position...

If they do not light up when in the on position they are not getting power. Check the fuse. You may need to use a volt meter to troubleshoot.

Does the boat have a fresh water system? If so that may be the switch in question 1.
