The fuel injected 5.0s are rated at 260HP so they should have enough power. There is a formula for max speed based on length, beam, .... The key is that a wider beam results in lower top speed.

Boating with a 31 ft in 5 - 6 ft seas? That's 1/5 the length of the boat, would not find me doing this. Cavitates under these conditions, how can you even get the boat to plane in such waters?
