Trim guage not working is probably broken wire at trim switch on outside of transom housing. Cure to to replace but this means disassembly of transom housing. Good...

Yodajim the engine with the aluminum block is not the 3.0 but mercruisers 470 model. The 3.0 has an alternator as well.
