That would basically eliminate any adjustment. I'm not sure I could get enough tension on the shorter belt before hitting. I don't think it will work, but I will buy some shorter belts and try before...

I recently replaced my manifolds and risers on a 97 Mercruiser 7.4 Thunderbolt (1997 Maxum 2700scr). I have put engine back in the boat and in the process of reconnecting everything have a clearance...
