As far as hatch hinge pins went I couldn't get any in Australia so i used the plastic barrel of a sturdy pen and then sealed both ends. Worked for years and still going strong.

I have a 7.3 Kohler in my 35. Almost bulletproof apart from the odd impeller change which only takes a few minutes. Parts readily available. I think they are a converted Japanese motorcycle engine.
