Seafoam + premium fuel no ethanol, should be good. Our 03 with the 3.0 did the same until we quit buying fuel from the closest place with ethanol and went to premium 92.

It does occur as you back down after running hard for a while. I have only owned the boat for a few monthes. I asked a friend too and he thought it may be something in the lower unit winding down....
