There's no need to go to the extra expense of hydraulic tabs the smart tabs work fine and can be adjusted for down force as required

I had hydrofoils on my 1900 SR they did work but they must put a lot of strain on the drive more suited to smaller boats I think, now I have smart tabs on it. they are cheap, easy to fit and work well

I wouldn't worry about it until the alarm goes off I've just worked out 180f is only 82 Celsius 200f is only 93 I think its fine.

Isn't the stat usually a 180f one?

It should still be charging at idle not as much but it should still charge, the best way to tell is with a ammeter in line that will give you a good idea but also if your not getting any flat...

I would start at the sender end first and disconnect the sense wire from the sender, if the gauge drops to E then the gauge and loom is ok, if so then take out the sender it could just be stuck in...

I know you shouldn't but if they are corroded its not a bad practice as probably the only time it will allow water back in to the engine is when you switch off

more than likely It will be corroded exhaust risers the outer water section is leaking in to the exhaust section then back down past the exhaust valve in to the cylinders, That is what killed my...
