From fresh to salt water - need advise

I am in the process of buying a 2000 Maxum 3100 with twin 5.0 Bravo II. The boat has always been in fresh water but I am planning to move it and keep it in salt water.

Thanks for the comments. The more I think and the more I hear about it, the diesels are the way to go. I just have to prepare myself to spend more money or to get an older boat.
