I have the same boat as you. The exhaust would have to go on on the sides. Most likely behind the wood panel. On the port side you will have to relocate the battery.

I would check fuel filter, injectors, spark plugs and plug wires. You would be surprised how much power loss you get from one misfiring cylinder or a cylinder starving for fuel.
