Default window

My walk through windshield shattered on my scr3100 Maxum. Went to glass man. He said he cannot tell if the window is slightly curved or not across and also if it is square. I know the top and bottom edges are curved. Main concern is across the flat area. I also know the glass is slightly tinted tempered glass. Don't even know who to call. Last time I called Brunswick Co. they said they didn't have any Maxum people working there.

Went to sight and found part numbers but where can these parts be ordered?

The windshields were made by Taylor Made, which is still in business. I seem to remember a thread on here where someone successfully ordered parts from them (windshield trim if memory serves). If you get the part number from maxum, you might be able to order it through Taylor.

I wonder why the windshield would simply shatter in mild 92 degree weather?

LOL, I'm betting it had more to do with being slammed open or shut.

Was there alcohol involved in this event?

FYI there was a duplicate thread opened which has been deleted. We're not the insurance company and therefore have no reason other than assume someone is being truthful.

As for cause, repeated slamming in the past can cause weakness that is undetectable to the human eye. The deck under the windshield can sag a bit over time . This causes the gap to tighten. This a evidence with the door portion of the windshield to have a tight fit over time. This is really the fixed windshield portions squeezing on and putting pressure on the door.

Note that I had stated "repeated slamming in the past CAN cause weakness that is undetectable to the human eye'. This is a statement of speculation based on the question "I wonder why the windshield would simply shatter in mild 92 degree weather?" In the original post, there is no mention of the year of the boat, or whether you are the original owner. With limited details we can only speculate to what MIGHT cause these things to occur.

If you've owned the vessel for it's entire life and state that the windshield door has never been slammed, then i'll take your word for it.

I agree, maybe it was slammed before. I just bought the boat 3 months ago. Could have been abused before I bought it. I did get a glass made locally.
