its a mini jet thruster fitted to a maxum 2800 scr apparently you dont need a big tunnel cutting through the hull and can fit yourself,i have aked for the fitting instructions for the 2800 and they are supposed to be getting back to me as the guy who has fitted it is in sweden and the company are in holland,

Looks simple enough, I wonder how you would get all the piping from the pump to the through hull fittings? It looks like you would need 3 or 4 through hulls to do the bow thruster part.
Good link.

Its quite simple really there are only 2 holes each hole acts as an inlet and outlet the pump is self priming so can be above the water line up in the bow storage area on a 2800 then run wires back to helm and power source the pump weighs 26kg so would act as ballast in bow,it is very tempting i have been quoted 1700 euros which is about 15/1600 pound sterling, considering a friend of minne had a bow thruster fitted last year at our marina they charged him £3500 and claimed it took 60hrs to fit robbing ba*tards.

I have heard a lot of people say the single screw Maxums are hard to dock. Now, I am not an expert by any stretch, but when I bought my boat the broker included about 4 hours of on-water training from a captain on windy day and since then I have never felt like I needed another screw or thruster to dock. (More practice yes, but not more thrust.) I owned three boats prior to this one and thought I knew how to dock but that captain brought me up about 10 levels. On a 28 ft boat you don't need anything except a single screw and the knowledge (and practice) how to use it. I would say to anyone considering a thruster to save yourself a few thousand hire a captain to give you lessons for an afternoon instead.

Of course, if you have a few thou burning a hole in you pocket then by all means by a thruster.
