Default Who lives on their boat?

Just out of curiosity.... does anyone live on their boat(full time or just summer?), and how big is it?

Wish I could in the Summertime, but the Admiral won't let me! Truthfully, two seasons ago I actually kept TRACK of how many nights I spent on Endless Summer (a 2001 2900 SCR---33' LOA) and recorded 62 nights/days on her! This season I think I'll hit only 50 or so, but considering my season is only five months I think that's pretty cool!

Speaking of retirement......You could say I am practising........It's a long story, don't ask.... officially Dec 1, 2014......... but to answer the question......

I could live on our boat all summer long ( 2001 3000 SCR). I really don't know if my loving wife would miss me :-) so we do the next best thing and do the weekend thing and that is good enough for us.

We have two cats at home and they stay at home cause I get the best of my life on our boat cause they are not there. Do any of you bring your pets to your boat?

The admiral and I have discussed getting a houseboat in a few years and giving it a try. We do spend close to 50 weekends a year (Friday thru Sunday) plus long weekends around the holidays on our boat. Snow, high winds, rain or heat doesn't keep us away.

"Snow, high winds, rain or heat doesn't keep us away." sounds like you work for the post office.... LOL just kidding but WOW 50 weekends a year... The reason I was asking is I was thinking about taking a job in Pensacola, FL and doing the same. Not to sure. But living on a boat with the small living space, but you are in the wide open spaces.

We have quit a few friends with house boats. One couple lives on their 72' x 16' custom 2 bedroom. Full size kitchen appliances including washer and dryer, king size bed (not a boat matress), residential heat pump...They even carry a 14' pontoon with a 50 HP on the back. It is truly like a home. We are just not ready to give up the cruiser style boat. We laugh and say we aren't old enough yet for a houseboat yet the truth is we are older than most we know.
