Default Where or how do I find how many hours my boat has?

We just bought a 2005 Maxum 1800 mx and I would like to know where I would find the hour meter or what ever you call it or even if it has one? If not how do I know how many hours are on the boat.

Lalia,

If the hour meter is not incorporated into one of the existing dash gauges - like the speedometer, and if there is no separate gauge for it, then a MerCruiser mechanic can plug his equipment into the engine's computer and get the hours from there.

welcome to the zoo....I'd get the mechanic to plug the laptop into the computer anyway just to see if there is any codes showing up....I'd also look at getting the impeller changed out...since your new to the boat...changing that should make life a bit easier in the event it over heats for some reason..

Is there a computer in a 2005? I'm fairly certain my 2008 is as simple of an engine as there is... Carburetor and distributor and as few electronics as possible. There is no hour meter in mine.

if yours has the MPI engine...the computer will tell all...if it's just a carb'd dumb engine...then there's no way to get this data off the engine....unless there is an hr meter...your only going by what the PO said was on the engine...
