HOWDY!!!...welcome to the zoo...basically I have the same boat...only a 2003 model yr...we love ours...great room..lots of power with the 6.2ltr....and it has everything we need for a cruise..we recently spent 9 days on it....had a blast....the 6.2ltr is a great engine....the b3 is also good as long as you keep the zinc's and the mercathod system up....the engine will spin right up to the red line of 5280 rpms....look for any blistering on the gelcoat...easy to fix....I have alot of fun with ours...so...go for it as long as it's in good shape and taken care .....
let us know what you decide to do...good luck....

Ditto on the zincs. We've got the B3 on our 1996 2700. I change them every year and replaced the Mercathode this year. A lot of early B3's had corrosion problems (we didn't), but I personally believe they didn't check the zincs often enough.

Thanks for the replies it has had new zincs on this year and has only done 194 hrs total what sort of fuel figures do you get?i will be taking the boss to look at it this morning,so i will let you know the out come, would it be worth having a bow thruster fitted.i have just sold a 2855 with a 5.7 engine, and have read that the b3 is easier to dock?

the b3 is an awesome drive....no prop walk...it's way easier to dock...you can actually spin the boat in it's own length......if you know how to do it.......keep the zinc's up...and your not going to have any problems....
fuel is more or less dependant on wind and water conditions..so...you can probably look at about 12-15 gals/hr.....depending on speed/wind/water....not bad concidering...but the engine is turbine smooth.....good luck..

here we go is b3 drive very stiff to engage forward and reverse when the engine is not running?also it has the trim gauge on the dash this i assume is for the trim on the leg.i have to get them to check the leg trim up switch as it powers in down but does not power in up

thanks ashley

The throttle is stiff on a lot of maxums, but its better to have it stiff if you want it to stay in place after you set it....just a nickles worth.

That's great news...bigger is always better......have a great summer with the new boat and remember....never approach the dock faster than your willing to crash into it...
