Default Toilet info

Hi Guys

I've got a Maxum 2300 Scr 1993
I've only owned it since the summer and the guy I bought it from wasn't that helpful with info when I bought it.
I've not had a sports cruiser before so a pump out head is a new thing for me.
We can pump it out ok but the last owner mentioned we could discharge at sea but I can't see any sea cock coming from the tank?

Any ideas?

If equipped as such there should be a Y valve to redirect the holding tank discharge to a macerator pump that would go to an overboard thru hill. There are two rocker switches that must be pressed together to run the pump.

This feature was an option that did not get bought much as in the U.S. it is illegal unless offshore.

Ahhhhhh

I was wondering about those switches...

Where should I look for the "Y" valve ???

If you use a Pump-out station they are NOT used right ???

Hi gs!
You do not use the switches for macerator when you use dockside pumpout station!

I have been struggling through learning the "RV" portion of the new boat Don

This is our second boat, but the first one with all the creature comforts LOL
Going to take a little time to figure it all out..

The way I understand it I will probably never use them anyway since we are on a lake..

Y valve would be near the holding tank.

Two switches so you cannot accidenly pump overboard. If caught doing so illegally they can say it required both switches at the same time so it was not an accident. You get fined.

Hi gs
Its not hard, just get down in the engine room and look at all the things one at atime!
Did I say room! Could anyone call that hole with all that stuff crammed into it a room!
I had a 1988 Bayliner 2455 that I think had more room down there! But as I am getting older I might be mistaken!
Just take your time it is not all that complicated!
Good luck!
Don

Hey Don if you do not like engine room then call it engine compartment.

Any way lrt us know if you have a Y valve! Then I will know if I have to bend over 180 deg. to find mine!
Good hunting!

The valve should be near the transom on the same side as the holding tank and you do not use the macerator when you pump out. Only 3 miles off shore (or anywhere in the Bahamas - gross).

Morning Phillbo!
I have been in that area of the inter hull (bilge, engine compartment, engine room, machinery space!) and have not seen a y valve!
Thanks
Don

Locate the waste hose going from the holding tank to the deck pumpout fitting. if it is a direct run there is no Y-valve and the boat is not equipment for over board pumpout.

My boat has a dedicated hose for the deck pump out, and a separate hose going directly to the macerator pump, which is sitting on top of the holding tank.

Hi Speedy!
I have a overboard pumpout, but I don't think I have a Y valve!
Will have to look closer, but I don't think there is one!
Thanks to all!
Don

Well I've not got a Y valve so I headed to the pump out.
Praying it wasn't going to be like the film RV lol
I pumped her out but it wouldn't lift the last inch or so of waste but at least it did the rest without incident.

Some times you need to add water to the tank. Also if it's been in there for some time it will solidify, water and wave action may break this up.

HI all!
I finally was able to get into the bilge and look for a Y valve! Don't have one!
One less thing to have to try to get to when cleaning holding tank!( I am setting it up to pump out through a hose into my RV dump system)
No I will not use it on the water, only when I dump at home or at a RV dump station!
Not all of the lakes here have pump outs, so I have improvise!
Don

Sounds like you have a good solution for having limited resources for pump out.

Not all boats have Y valves. Mine doesn't have a Y-valve. My holding tank has two discharges; one to the pump-up deck fitting. The other to a macerator which goes to a through hull.

I have two momentary-On switches at the helm. Them must both be thrown together to actuate the macerator. This prevents accidental discharge. That is sufficient in my area.

Y-valves are the old way to bypass the holding tank and discharge directly overboard. Unless I'm on an inland body of water in which the local municipality requires a Y valve be specifically locked closed, then there not be a need to add an extra $25.00 item in the bilge unnecessarily.
