Default Prop Selection 2000SR3

Hello All,

I am brand new to the site and brand new to being a Maxum owner. My family enjoys the lake very much and it is where my kids have grown up for the last 10 years. We needed a little more room than our Sea Ray 180 we have had so we now have the 2000SR3.

My question is more of a survey of what prop others in the group may be using on their 2000's or similar size boats. My kids are teens now and like to wakeboard, so I need a good all around prop. The guy that had the boat before me had placed a shiny prop (so it looks good)that from what I read may be too big of a diameter, but the only experience I have with this boat is the test drive when I bought it last month. So i will test more in the spring to see how it performs. The current prop is 15.25inch X 17 Pitch Mirage Plus. I think the pitch is probably ok, but I am thinking the 15.25 may be an RPM killer. Any thoughts? The boat has a 5.0L,220hp, with 1.47 outdrive.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Welcome aboard CHLisHOME!!!

I suggest starting with the "Mercury Prop Selector" page:

https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/...tor/#/step-one

That will give you the ranges you should be in. The more details you have (specs on your boat) including performance numbers, such as RPM @ WOT will allow you to better narrow your results. I did a cursory run through and that prop seems to be a bit large, but compensated with a low pitch.

Thanks shrew.

Yes I have looked over the prop selector page prior to posting. Thought I would take a stab with some owners that may be on the forum. I am going to have to wait until warm weather to even see my starting point. Thanks for the response.
