Default New Member, question

Hi, Just got a 1996 Maxum 2400 SCR! Right now undergoing repairs of the engine (5.7 Li V8 Mercruiser). Looking forward to being on the water soon!
I have a question: Where can I find how to lay the boat on a boat lift? I am wondering how far apart should the beam bunks be placed?
Thanks,
Victor

Welcome aboard.

Is this a new lift as the installer should know how to set it up. Basically they should be under the structural stringers in the boat, the ones the engine mounts to.

Thanks! It's an old lift. I need to adapt it. How do you find the stringers. Is there a measurement?

The stringers are the structural members where the front engine mounts screw into. Measure the spead between them to use as the separation you need. The lift bunks should be just inside the first running strake from the keel.

I posted this elsewhere but just remembered that I had asked before. So, I just put my Maxum 2400 SCR (1996) on a boat lift. Everything went well.
I noticed that the point of contact with the bunks is on the lifting strakes, specifically on the first one from the keel. Is that ok? or should I move the bunks closer so that they make contact between the keel and the first lifting strake or wider so that they make contact after the strakes?
Everything looks good though, but I don't want the strakes to collapse, I don't know if they are solid or hollow.

Resting on the lifting strake will be difficult to align and is probably going to want to slide to either the inside of the outside and have the boat list on the lift slightly.

It looks pretty stable. If it will not cause damage to the lifting strake or the hull, it may be ok. I am going to upload some pictures

I don't believe it will be unstable. I also doubt it will hurt anything. I suspect it will be difficult to drive it on and get the strake to sit on the bunk each time. I'd suspect the strake will want to push to the inside or outside of the bunk. Much like trying to load a boat on a trailer.

If it were me I would adjust so its not sitting on the strake as that will be a high stress point as the weight of the boat will be mainly sitting directly on the edge of the strakes instead of spread out across the width of the board.
