Default New Maxum owner introduction

Hi all! Joe here. A couple of weeks ago I decided to purchase a 1990 Maxum 21 foot cuddy. Not my first boat, but it is my first in a few years. Anyhoo, I found her in after she'd been stored for two seasons and the owners had no plans to boat anymore, as their kids had grown up and moved out. They switched to jet skis instead.

I've had the itch to get back on the water for a couple of years, but hadn't had the right set of circumstances line up to make that happen. So when I found this one, I did some research, then decided to jump in head first so to speak. She was a bit on the rough side, with cracked vinyl and oxidized gelcoat but I could definately see potential.

I've spent the last couple of weekends working on her, and went to the lake a couple of times to get a feel for how she runs. All in all, I'm very happy with how she performs, and she's starting to look pretty nice as well.

Anyway, I thought I'd stop hiding in the shadows and say hi to everyone here. I'll tell ya, I'm REALLY glad to have found this forum. Incredible information here!

Now for some pics!

Just got her home from the previous owner's storage building.

Time to get her whipped into shape!

Starting the second weekend of buffing.

Finally got her looking like I want.

I also did some vinyl and wood replacement, but forgot to get pics. Anyway, I'm happy as a clam and glad to be here!

Cheers,
Joe

Welcome Aboard Joe! Great Pic's, Is that turtle wax rubbing compound I see in the pic? Looks like it worked really good for you. Thats what I used about 6-7 weeks ago, but I need to do it again. ;( .... It took me two days and 18 beers to do it the first time...LOL

Thanks gents!

Yeah Todd it's turtle wax. I was going to go with Maguire's, but for the price I figured I'd at least give turtle a shot. It worked pretty well, although the heavier cut Maguire's probably would've taken less effort on my part.
