Default Moving on - Mixed emotions!

Hey Fellow Maxum Owners,

It has been almost two years to the day since I purchased my new left over 2008 1900SR3. It has been a great boat - always started right up, performed great and never left us stranded. It was a good boat and I spent hours cleaning and detailing it after EACH splash. We put 193 hours on her in 23 months. But, I have been looking at other boats since the boat show. Not so much because of 2 footitis disease but more for an upgrade in comfort (interior) and power.

I just closed the deal on a new 2011 Chaparral 206SSI with a VP 5.0 GXI SX. The lake test was yesterday and it went really WELL. It is essentially the same LOA as the Maxum but has a wider beam. It has a real nicely laid out cockpit and is very comfy. It has some nice upgrades (digital gauges, bimini with eisenglass, upgraded stereo, sirius, snap in carpet, great bucket seats each with a bolster, etc) I think I negotiated a pretty fair deal and got them to throw in some nice extra goodies - custom full sunbrella cover, dual battery set up, swim platform logo mat (not as nice as Bella's teak tho), dual axle trailer with guides, etc. They gave me within about 1,000.00 of what I paid for the Maxum on the trade too.

I just wanted to say to thanks to all of you here at the MOC forum for the help when needed the last two years as well as for the "fun" on the site. Not so sure that the Chap forum will have as nice of guys as this one does. I wish you all well and will check in from time to time to (1) say "hi" (2) see Bella's latest mod and (3) to make sure you are keeping "greatz" Ed in line!

Thanks to SP and Shrew for their leadership.

Take care,
Brian

Brian........again congrats on your new baby,,,,,,, but please stick around for all the info and entertainment that you won't find on the Chap web site. My two best boating friends have chaps and I don't hold that against them. When they get on my maxum 3000 SCR I tell them to keep the drool down to a minimum. Chaps are great boats and you will have alot of fun with it.

So don't say bye..........you have got some new adventures ahead of you that you need to keep us informed........so stick around...........

Hey Brianm,

Looks like you spent the best two days in a boat owners life with your Maxum; the day you bought it and the day you sold it! Congrats on the new upgrade. Chaparral makes a great boat, I seriously looked into one while shopping back in 2000', their quality of build is easily on par with, if not a few ticks better than that of Maxum so I think you made a wise choice. Does the boat have closed cooling too? A long term must for coastal tooling too IMHO.

Thanks again for the shout outs for Bella's mod's. Check back from time to time, A dock buddy asked me this weekend after touring Bella and asked "What's next?" I gave him a long stare and said "Enjoy what I done with my honey!". I did add that this winter is coming (DOH!!)and I do have some ideas for my winter projects;

1. Stainless Makeover for the head. Including two new faucet fixtures; A hands free infra-red sensor sink faucet fixture and then a separate one for a dedicated swing away shower head installed to replace the sink pull out sprayer (an idea I gleened fro SP!). Plus the addition of NUTEAK flooring that I am going to tackle myself after watching the installer do my swim step. Should look sharp

2. Hydraulic steering at the helm with a new Hynautic System to replace the antiquated cable rack and pinion system; good bye steering wheel slop and side to side free-play!

3. New Northstar A330 AutoPilot option kit for my Northstar 660 Explorer GPS/chartplotter/fishfinder/fuel computer Unit that will integrate with the hydraulic steering. The last but not least option for Bella's complete navionics system.

Stay Tuned Brianm, and enjoy that beautiful (bella) new boat.

Bella Sera 3300SCR Out.

Get lost, pal.

Really, congratulations on the new boat, Brian, you're gonna love it. Amazing how significant an extra foot of beam is.

Hope you have a great time with the boat!

Congrats on the new boat. I've been quietly following along on 'the other forum'. No reason not to stick around though. Best of luck.

Thanks Steve.

I am going to hi-jack my own thread here........I read your update today. Even more evident now (extent of damage) of just what a fine job you did as captain on that "day" a while back. I am glad to see that everything seems to moving along for you and wish you well when the repairs are done.
