Default Maxum 2500 Scr Hydrofoil/Trim

Hello all. I new to the Owners club and have really enjoyed reading the discussion forums.

I just purchased a 1991 2500 SCR 5.0 in absolute like new condition only 469 original hours. I switched to a 4 blade prop and hold a plane perfectly at 17 mph although when Im cruising at 24 - 29 mph I seem to have to trim alot compared to my previous 24 searay. I did add a hydrofoil and I am wondering if Im getting to much lift and chine walking. It seems very sensitive. I have added the bennet auto trim ac3000 which works great. Also im currious if at 3200 rpm I cruise at aprox 22 - 24 mph (gps) is this normal performance.

Thank You any input would be appriecated.

welcome too the zoo....glad you like our little part of the internet.....we're a friendly bunch...
for one I'm not sure I'd have the hydrofoil on ..as you stated..it will make the boat a little more sensative.....the auto trim tabs are a good deal...nice to have those isn't it...

as for your cruise speed...to me it sounds a little low...but ..I ran my 2455 bayliner at about 26-28 mph....my maxum 2700 I ran at about 28-30 mph and it was very comfortable at that speed.....so...play around ....find the best comfortable speed for the boat....
oh...and post some pic's

Hi Seapuppy
I was suprised at the speed your ran your maxum 2700. Do you know what your RPMs and fuel flow were? I have been getting about 24 to 25 mph with about 16 gph. I can't remember my rpms since I trim for minimum fuel flow while still on a plane. On the other hand I just tuned my engine and it was much happier on my test run. I haven't had a chance to recheck my numbers.

Tex....
we ran ours at about 30 mph here in the sound when it was smooth water...I'd spin the engine at around 4k rpm with the b3 drive...our best guestimate was about 14-16 gals p/hr....depending on current and winds...between 3800 and 4k rpm is where we got our best performance....
