Question Marine A/C

..........What does A/C mean? I see that and think air conditioning.... But I certainly don't understand a raw water valve related to air conditioning.... What am i about to be educated about???

The Air conditioning has a sea cock valve like the toilet does. Water coming from that valve (ocean, river, etc) runs thru the the air conditioning system and exits out of a port in the bow. I also prefer using a fresh water flush so I just use the water from the head sink instead of my river water....

So...is it a "real" A/C.... With a compressor and freon and such? Or does it just blow a fan across a cool heat exchanger?? What is the water used for in the A/C system?
I guess I need a bigger boat with these fancy systems....

It's real A/C. A boat uses water to remove the heat instead of a big bulky condenser that your house has. Water has a much better heat transfer than air does.

A marine a/c unit works like a house heat or cool pump.

The unit in my 2400 SCR only cools and doen't have reverse cycle for heat. I think the 2700 SCR and bigger models have heating and cooling units.
