Default Loss of starboard throttle control

Sudden failure of Starboard Throttle control. Linkage moves freely by hand. Only 35 PSI in hydraulic fluid reservoir. we limped back to the dock... lucky it was a calm day. Any ideas?

BackGround: We are new to the site. We are new owners of a 2001 Maxum 4600 SCB. We are near completion of our training sessions. We have commissioned a licensed Caption to teach us what we need to know. We have 20+ years vessel experience, but, not on dual screw boats of this size... We love the boat... but, find that its like a shake-down, so far we've discovered corroded anchor up switch, raw water pump, leaky injectors - fixing everything a little at a time.

You can pull the plastic cover off the top of the engine to see if its, the cockpit linkage is moving. it could just be a lose nut. I assume you got 7.4 MPI's.

35 psi in which hydralic fluid reservior? this I/O or inboards? easy to find a leak in the boat, look for puddles, if leaking out of the boat you'd have an oil trail like a damaged german U-boat.

the boat is 11 years, old, and as stated, the "soft" components poop out.

anchor switch just needs shot of wd-40, like most unused massaorator switches, raw water put is an $80 kit, not to hard to put on, and leaky injectors, you would smell gasoline.... so, they uses miss, not leak.

give us more info.

Welcome Aboard Thomtyler!!!! Congrats! Nice boat. The 4600SCB comes inboard with 7.4's if I recall. I don't know if there was a diesel on those models or not. I agree with Pascavone. checking the linkage is probably the easiest place to start. Then on to the shifter itself. Are the hydraulics for the steering or the trim tabs?
