Default Looking at buying 1995 2300 SR but have a question

I am looking at buying a 1995 Maxum 2300 SR but I have a question, there is a hole in the hull near the back of the boat on each side and the one is close to the bilge opening, these are precision drilled holes and look like they may have been for a vent or something, anyone know what that might be?
At first I thought maybe it was a vent of some type and the vent cover was just missing? This has me puzzled. I would greatly appreciate any help, suggestion or guesses.

Are they in the side(s) the hull (port and starboard) or in the transom near the outdrive?

Pictures would be really helpful.

We'll need pictures from both outside and inside the boat if possible. I don't want to give you bad info. Previous owner may have made some custom modifications.

Yes they are in the side(s) the hull (port and starboard) and exactly the same location and size about 1/2" in diameter. Hope the picture helps.

I'm afraid the photo is too small to see the hole. Are the holes finished in anyway?

Good news is that they are well above the water line.

Why not call and ask the owner what they are for?

My guess is deck drains or built in cooler drains.

I did ask, he wasnt sure what they were for as he bought it that way. As for the finish they look like a professional job but just do not look finished, maybe there was a grill or vent covering them at one time?

what does it look like from inside the boat? Is it just holes in the hull or are they connected to any lines or tubes?

On my 1990 SCR2700 these sound like the outlet locations for the cockpit scupper drains.

It's easy to find out, bring a bucket of water with you and pour it into the scupper drains and see where it exits the boat.

Can't be a drain, it's located a good 18" above the cockpit floor. Right in front of the bilge pump thru hull - right?

Locker through hull scupper? Bilge Pump through hull? Cooler drain? Best option it to look on the inside and see what it is connected to. Sometimes the nylon thorughull fittings snap off if they're old and get banged.

Oh looking at the photo again, you are right! On my first look, I didn't see the arrow and circle around the hole in question.

It looks more like the position for the fuel, water or waste tank vent. I would check those out, I hope they are not broken off and floating inside the hull.

You might be right about the vents.. maybe at some point they became clogged and the previous owner just replaced them with through hull fittings.

I need to dig up some pics of my old 2300 to remember where the vents were located.
