Default Gas Gauge stuck

Gas gauge does not sem to work. Short of keeping the tank full (wasteful because I only go out once a month), can someone make a rough guess on how many gallons the boat consumes per hour, crusing at slow speed and ocassionally running up to 25-30 knots per hour for a brief time. Thanks for the help.

Bond you are playing with fire with that question............why don't want to fix it? More than likely it is the sending unit that can be fairly easy to replace.

Just my thoughts

Agreed. Is it stuck on empty or stuck on full? My guess is stuck on empty. Replace the sensor/sendor in the tank and see where you get from there.

Go out for the day with a full tank and then top it off at the end of the day and that will give you a good idea of how much fuel you use on average.

If you have the 5.7 Merc, 250 hp EFI, and cruise at25-26 mph you will burn about 3 gallons an hour. I believe WOT is 45 which pretty much sucks the fuel at 23 gallons an hour. Replacing the gauge is pretty simple. Simply unscrew all the screws that hold the entire panel in and carefully pull it towards you being carefull not to disconnect the tube that feeds the speedo. A replacement gauge is less than 40 bucks. Try:
