Default Escort trailer fenders???

My boat trailer is original (Escort)and is for a 1999maxum 1900 sr. Escort went out of business years ago. I was curious if any of you have replaced the original steel fender that were angled on the inside (against boat) with a set of plastic fenders? I can't seem to locate the original type fenders that had the carpeted angle backs on them. The last set i used, I tried to cut a standard galvanized fender and replicate them, but wound up cutting a groove on the tire and scratched th side of my boat from the lack of room between the fenders/tires/boat. I think it was the bolts holding the carpeted boards to the fender that did the damage. Since then I have went without any. I get my freshly painted boat back nexy week and need some fenders to keep the debris off of it. The trailer is a single axle by the way.

I have a similar issue with the trailer for my 2000 1900SR. I actually have spots on the hull where the bottom paint was rubbed off by the fenders. I have contemplated modifyng the bunks to raise the boat above the fenders and putting standard fenders without cutouts on the trailer. If you come across a repalcement I woudl be very interested.

Countryme what size tires are on the 2000 model trailer? I already raised my bunks a little with new parts but could only get a small amount more clearence. I was thinking maybe going to a smaller tire diameter, but I am not sure if the weight load of the boat would permit that. Anybody know what dry weight for the 1999 1900 model boat is? I can't find it on the website. Was thinking maybe going to a 14" wheel or even running maybe a 205 instead of a 225 to get just a slightly smaller width tire. Problem is the 205 only comes in the C class load rating. I believe mine are a D class rating, but not sure if they were the original tires. Anybody have any input??

Check these out, CountryME. These look similarto the originals but I don't know if the same problem would persist with the rubbing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=190377769383

OK, so I emailed a guy who purchased those fenders in March. He replied and said they fit "perfectly" and worked on a 2002 escort trailer for his Maxum 1900sr. Think i might give them a shot.

Let me know how close the bunks are to the boat sides when you get them.

Will do. i am going to have to refabricate some side bunks/fender bumpers out of something as mine were destroyed long ago. I will let you know how it goes when I get them done.

I looked all over last year for the original fender style that came on my Escort. (I own a 1700 w/escort trailer. Single axle.) I finally found the fenders at Great Lakes Skipper. I think I paid $25-$30 per fender in October 2010. As for the carpet piece (I think it's called the fender skirt) you are on your own. I had to re-use my old ones. I fairly certain you could make your own skirts. (It's plywood and carpet.)

Tracking says the fenders will be here tomorrow. I went ahead and ordered some wheel spacers for the tires to give me an extra 3/4" on both sides as well. Hopefully It will work out. Now I just need to locate some longer wheel studs to complete the setup. After I get them in hand, I'll make the skirts for them.

I got them on after adding the wheel spacers and longer wheel studs. I made the skirts out of 15/32 (1/2") p.t. plywood and covered them with standard bunk carpet. The fenders seem to work at this point, but I did drill new holes and actually lowered the fender down some so there is not as much space between the tire and top of the fender. To clarify, the fenders came with predrilled holes for whatever application they were originaly intended for, so I drilled some that made them sit closer to the tire than what they came with. I also replaced all the bunk boards and bunk hardware with longer bunk supports. I used 12" supports which raised the boat up some to give added room for the fenders. I maxed the 12" front supports out and made the rear supports slightly lower to keep a slight rake in the bunks. After loading the boat back on the trailer, It appears I can lower the bunk supports about an inch or two all the way around and still have plenty of room in between the tire, fender, and boat. In the end, to put fenders on the trailer was kind of pricey, but they look good and will protect the new paint so I'm glad I did it. I just wanted to update so those of you who need fenders to replace the old escort ones would know, that these will work with a little tweaking. I used the wheel spacers and new longer bunk hardware (it needed replacing anyway), but I think these would work without doing any of that if you position them correctly and drill new mounting holes that lower the fender slightly. The boat would probably be right next to the skirt if not touching on each side, but the fender would be off the tire. It should not be an issue if the skirt is properly covered with carpet. Just my .02 Hope that helps anyone needing some replacements.

What exactly are you needing? I can take some when I get it back from the shop. It is in getting the bellows and gimble bearing replaced right now. I should have it back by the end of the week. I didn't take any pics of the spacers before I put them on, but would be happy to take some of how it sits with everything done so you can see the clearence between everything. I have yet to lower the bunks back down yet, and I may not. It is setting a little high, but rides fine.

I'm curious how the boat sits on the trailer and how much space you have between the fenders and boat.

Yea they are up in the air a bit. I think I may drop them just an inch or so this weekend when I test the boat after its recent gimble bearing and bellows replacement. It is somewhat hard to tell but there is enough room to lower it some and still not touch the fenders. By the way, I can put my fingers inbetween the tire and inner side of the fender skirt so there is plenty of room there too.

After over a year of searching, I finally settled on a set of plastic fulton fenders. Here are some before and after pics of the additional clearance. They fit great and I look forward to eliminating the worry of hitting the fenders when loading by boat. Here is where I found them (and for a great price too!) http://ecustomhitch.com/i-8202831-fu...re-silver.html
