Default doppy boats

We should have a new section for stupid boaters from your area.

We had the remains of the tropical storm blow thru, with 35 mhw and I put extra lines on my boat on the canal, yet these two go out in a 17 foot boat from 1960's.

they are in the bay, with land and marsh around them, in under 3' of water, but it still gets white caps.

amazing what people don't understand about a body of water.

Other defendants are manufacturer Silverton Marine Corp., even though the company is out of business....

That is absolutely ridiculous!!! They are suing the boat manufacturer and the sponsor of the fireworks display for the negligence of the boat owner. This had nothing to do with the boat or the sponsor of the fireworks display. It's lawsuits like this that are slowly erroding the civil liberties of the rest of us. Who was responsible for the child? Maybe the guardian of the child should be held liable for not ensuring the children were safe. Had the guardians of the children ensured the children were above deck and wearing the proper PFD's, we woul dnot be having this discussion.

Do I think it is the responsibility of the guardian? No (I'm simply trying to make a point) My point is, it is not more the resonsibility of the boat manufacturer or the fireworks sponsor either. The lawsuit is one thing. I think the boat owner is liable. It is truly a tragedy and my sympathies go out to the families of those children who preished, but let's not loose our heads here.

Shrew I fully agree with you on this one.

Next year the fireworks sponsor will have to post a warning "Don't come watch out display" "at least not on a boat that is overload,...please see boat manufacturs instructions of wha a overloard boat is"
