Default Depth sounder

The housing on my depth sounder transducer is badly cracked. I'm getting the boat pulled out of the water anyway, so I want to change it.

I currently have a basic Faria model sounder with digital read out and alarm (I think it's this one): https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...kaAid9EALw_wcB

The mechanic asked what I wanted to replace it with and I have no idea. Is there a good reason to switch to something else? Better, more accurate models? This one doesn't seem to work very well, but that's probably because it is cracked. Advice would be much appreciated.

Nevermind. I determined that the cracked transducer is on the Lowrance GPS/sounder unit, not the Faria.

I also discovered that, if it's working, the Lowrance does loads of things I didn't know it did like bottom profile, fish finding and temperature. And the transducer shouldn't be too expensive to replace if I can find one. Yay!
