Mike, yes, I agree, I did think the smoke was oil. I had never seen a gas engine smoke carbon like that before. The carb was rebuilt by Saturday afternoon and we were in the water on Sunday (I changed the oil too just in case..). Runs great!
I appreciate all of your guy's input - although I did steer you wrong.

First and fore most glad you have resolved the problem. Too rich of a mix can smoke like an old diesle.

As far as steering wrong, that's all part of the forum as we are made up of folks with different knowledge base. It's why when providing help we sometimes ask a bunch of questions to help uncover any misunderstandings.
