Default Bow Thruster for Maxum 2700

Hi

What Bow would you recommend for a 2000 Maxum 2700.

Thank you.

Several manufacturers and they will work for your boat just use the size they recommend. The big choise is adding a tunnel for built in unit or a small compact all in one the attaches to the outside of the hull and only a mounting hole is required.

CGC,
My I ask why you need a bow thruster for your 2700? I assume your's is a single engine and you are getting blown around while maneuvering around the docks.

Hi

My previous boat was a twin easy to maneuver. Boating in Pittsburgh can be challenging at times, especially on high river-flow days.

Back in the days when I owned a Four Winns 248 (DP) I would occasionally (regularly) have a hard time docking, I'm hoping that a bow thruster will alleviate the stress associated with docking the boat in sub-optimal conditions. I've always been a lake boater, things just seemed more predictable ...

Thanks.

Tossing a bow line can do the same.....if you got somebody to catch it....

A bow thruster might not be the answer you're looking for especially given the type of water you are boating on. Rivers can be tricky even with twins and or bow thrusters.

Is it even possible or financially cost effective to modify the hull on a 28ft boat?

Phillbo, I hope you can give better advice on your upcoming 1,000 post haha

As far as maneuvering a single screw boat, my advise would be to practice and train your first mate well. Roger makes a good point about using a bow or even stern line to swing or leverage your way to the dock. Just make sure your are using at least 1/2" or 5/8" line

side power is probably one of the more common brands. Aftermarket installation will be pricey.

Default Thruster Dilemma

I agree with the others. i recently came out of a 2700 SCR single screw Practice Makes Perfect! you definitely shouldn’t need a bow thruster on thay boat. the Bravo 3 gives you nice touch.....but if you want to do it anyway i just put a Vetus 925 on my Maxum 4100 SCB flybridge. it definitely helps my confidence in tight squeezes or windy days!!!!
