Try to spray some penetration oil. That should loose it up.

First--remove the table, then wiggle and turn the leg out.

It's threaded and needs to be spun counter clockwise. The base in the sole (floor) is a threaded male made of aluminum. The base on the post is a threaded female made of plastic. The aluminum corrodes making a very rough surface. The plastic then creates an effect like a nylon locknut.

Use the rubber strap and put a length of pipe to get more leverage. You can use a penetrating oil, but be careful not to stain the rug.

Are you referring to this type of tool?
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-8-...-300117125-_-N

I could not get ours out and tried everything, could not get oil under the plastic cover at all. This tool was the only way to get it off. Now it is part of the boat tools. :-)
Good luck!!

You're best bet is to remove the table first. If you can. pull the table out of the slot along the wall, then rotate it clockwise 90 degrees. Now pop the table straight up to remove it from the top of the post. This reduces some friction and makes the post a bit easier to turn. Use the wrench as low on the post and as close to the base as possible. Consider using some leverage, like slipping a length of pipe over the wrench handle.

If all that don't work you may have to apply heat to the area where is the thread. But watch out don't cut fire...that's the last thing you need.
