Default Bearing Buddies

Has anybody installed these "Bearing Buddies" on their trailer? Are they difficult to install? Worth the trouble?

In case anybody is wondering its a grease fitting on the center hub so the trailer bearings can be greased without removing the bearing.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

This is a great site I just joined thanks

welcome too the zoo..glad you joined the fun....I've read about bearing bud's and they are nice to have on a trailer....the only problem is that some time or another..you need to pull them off to inspect the bearings for contamination...so..either way...some has to come off...but otherwise anything that makes greasing up a trailer is worth the money...

I have used them for years and they work really well. The only problem I have had is over greasing the hub and winding up with grease all over the wheel.

I am with SP. I have been trailering for many years with great success with bearing buddies. Just inject enough grease for the retention plate to apply pressure on the springs, or as Silverado said, the pressure will force grease out of the grease seal in back, and you will have grease all over creation.

You can just tap them off with a rubber mallet for inspection, and then I put them back in with a two-pound sledge with a piece of 2x4 over the bearing buddy itself.

The positive pressure of the grease against the spring keeps water out during launch and retrieval, and we all know water is bad for bearings - very bad.
