Update. I did the Vasoline thing. After 3-4 trips including it sitting in the lake all weekend over Labor Day. Say what you want about the vasioline, doing it the hard way, etc. I have done both (own a polisher) The Vasoline, then wax thing works far better than polish/ wax as far as resisting chalky loo after a few trips to lake. Now, that is on a 1990 Maxum with the older gel coat, but for my situation I will do the vasoline thing again in spring. I am sold.
