Default Another Nubee question 3700 SCR

I have wood floors, and there is ONE hatch near the V-berth, it opens to a bilge pump, but there is a bulkhead near it.

My question is shouldn't there be another hatch in the center centerline compartment?

Under the stair under the bunk is the compartment that houses the fresh water tank. In between the base of the stairs, and the forward compartment is an enclosed compartment in the bilge that has no apparent access.

It seems the access should be a hatch at the bottom of the stair.

I'm not sure if Maxum forgot to put one, or if a previous owner paved wood over it.

I'm getting water from there, and would like to investigate it, but I hate to punch a hole in a hardwood floor for nothing.

You need to be careful. You don't know exactly where the stringers are. There are bulkheads beneath the sole as well. I wouldn't want to be cutting into either a bulkhead or a stringer.

I would say the PO would have to be an idiot to re-floor over an access hatch, but then again they sheetrocked the basement in the ceiling of my house and closed in a shutoff for an exterior spigot (Ask me how I know). Anything is possible.

I can get the stringer placement by measuring from the other hatch. I can also get bulkhead placement by shoving a tape measure into the hole until I hit a solid object.

I'm hoping someone with the same exact boat maxum3700 scr 1999 can give me the distance from the stair, so I don't have to ruin a brand new hardwood floor drilling pilot holes.
