Question Anchor line

How much line do you have on your boat?

35 feet of chain and 200 feet of nylon.

Not having a windless yet, and after hauling nearly all of it back in on Sunday in windy conditions, I think that's about enough for now.

Chain: 20 ft. (I don't recall size off the top of my head)

Line: 200 ft. of 5/8 inch braided line

Where do you boat in Ct.?

10 ft of galvanized on about 150 ft of 5/8" on a Danforth Super Hooker #16. We solely anchor in the bays off Long Island's South shore; very shallow.

4 feet of plastic coated chain, maybe 100 feet of 1/2" nylon, whimpy 8 pound Danforth. Is what came with the boat when we bought it last June.

To say I worry about anchoring is an understatement. Replacing the whole mess very soon.

It's all relative to the size of the boat, the holding in the anchorage and the conditions (wind, waves, current, tide, etc.).

Indeed it is, but my current ground tackle isn't sufficient for even my little boat.

We just upgraded from a small Danforth to a larger Delta and added some chain for good measure this spring. So far it's been a hit, even in 15-25 knot winds. Our boat wanders back and forth on the radius quite a bit, but we don't drag a bit anymore. It's nice to finally not sleep with one eye/ear open.

As an added benefit - the Danforth was beating up the bottom of the pulpit and the new replacement fits like a glove.
