Default Anchor Light

on my 1996 scr 2400 I am still learning new stuff - I have an anchor light switch that lights up when turned on - but do not see an actual light around the anchor...guess I don't have one? where would it be and can it be added? thanks

Is the white all around light on the 2400 fixed-mounted, or is it a plug-in style post? The anchor light switch lights the all-around white light without lighting the green and red running lights. The Running lights (probably marked 'Navigation (Lights)' on the dash) will light both the green and red nav lights along with the white all around light.

Obviously, if the all around white light is a plug-in model and not plugged in, you wouldn't see it lit when the switch is turned on. However that is a series of guesses on my part. just a couple thoughts.

It is a plug in mount for the all-around light. so that is the "anchor light" then. no actual light near the anchor. thanks

It's the light you leave on when at anchor so you don't get run over.

I recommend you take a boating class as they teach you this and all the other safety regulations.

Stay safe and enjoy.

Why do you need light on the anchor? One rule of thumb in boating is to be secured for the night way before the sun goes down.

My rule is to be secure 2 hours before sunset. So I can watch to make sure I have a good set. Dragging an anchor in the dark is no fun.

The term anchor light is a all white light that must be visible to all other boats in a 360* arch when the boat is anchored.

Displaying any other white light is a violation and ruins your and near boats vision at night.

I know this is an old thread, but my 2nd-hand Maxum came without the all-white plug-in anchor light on a pole. Is there anywhere that sells these? Hopefully it can be shipped internationally, but just finding one would be a start.
thanks for any advice, - Ian.

West Marine sells a variety of the lights.

Fairly universal in the states, try west marine or defender. Both sell on line.

Hi - I also have a 1996 2400SCR and I cannot find the port to plug in the anchor light, nor can I find the anchor light pole to plug in. Where is that port located on this vessel? Also, are there other setups for this model that have a permanent anchor light, and not a removable pole type? Thanks!

The all around white light socket is on the starboard side between the end of the windshield and hand grip.
