Default Wiring path of windlass on a 4100 SCA

We just bought a 1998 4100 SCA only do discover that the windlass wasn't working. Just replaced the solenoid and it worked for 5 minutes but then stopped. Since we don't have an owners manual, does anyone know the wiring path? Don't want to take the whole boat apart to track down the problem!

welcome to the zoo...the path of the windlass should run down the port side....if your batt's are on the port side...look up into the anchor locker and check to see how clean the connections are on the windlass....then you can see where the pwr feeders run to either port or stbd....
if you still have trouble..I can contact a buddy that works in parts and he can probably get a schematic for you.......

Thanks for the the direction seapuppy. The ground for the windless on the port engine was bad and not in an easy spot to get to. Finally got it off and relocated it
to the back of
the block where it will be more manageable in the future. I had to disconnect the 2 leads from the fly bridge. The foot switches work on the bow, but when I use
the switch on the fly bridge, the down position blows the breaker under the console. It's not hooked up and does it. I got a short somewhere, but with no wiring
diagram, it's just going to take some time. Even so, i'm not tearing the boat apart to trace a wire.

ok...here's the deal...not knowing what issue your having other than a possible bad foot switch....the path for your boat is 2 number 2 sized wires that go up from the engine bay from the batt's on the stbd side of the boat......from there there is a couple of soleniods that operate the up down switches to the motor....so..either the solenoid is bad...or the switch is bad...that's all you have that can pop the breaker in the engine bay....I'm having my guy send me a wiring schematic which I'll try to either post here or send you directly .....we'll see how it goes when I try to post it..
