Question Water heater- change out

I have a year 2000, Maxum 3700 SCR. The square water heater is located in a compartment behind a panel in the aft cabin under the stairs down to the cabin/salon. The water heater is corroded and is leaking. The water heater is connected to the engine cooling system by 2 hoses. This allows me to run the engines to heat water in the water heater. My question is, what is the most efficient way to remove the water heater, especially on how to take off the hoses from the engine cooling system without dumping a ton of engine coolant into the bilge area under the waste holding tank which is also in the same compartment? I am planning to replace the square water heater with a Raritan round, 6 gallon tank. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions.

The best you can do is drain it from the lowest point where you can collect the coolant that is below the water heater hoses. May be a good time to change the coolant anyhow if it hasn't been done in a while.
