Default Key on Alarm

On my 88 Sea ray, there was a 10 second time delay, before the alarm went off, so you could crank the engine over and build oil pressure without having to listen to the alarm.

On this Maxum (96, 3200SCR) are the alarms, supposed to go off, as soon as you turn on the key?

Jim in short the answer is no, however once in a while mine will do the same I think its something to do with the timing circuit on the alarm. when mine does it its after a short crank to prime the fuel system them during the next crank it may alarm until started. My thinking is the first crank phase charges up the capacitor in the timer so next crank it times out right away.

When my 97 2800 had its stock 454 the alarm would tone for as long as the key was in the aux position. After repowering with a 496, it only stays on for about 5 seconds.

I have the 95 3200 SCR. The alarm will stay on until oil pressure builds up. Most annoying sound. So I hooked my alarm up to the blank rocker switch on the helm panel and installed an ON/OFF rocker and wired the alarm through the switch. So I keep the rocker in the OFF position when starting, then flip it back to ON when driving. There have been times a bad oil pressure sensor failed and while docking the alarm would go off, drove me nuts. Now I would just flip the rocker to OFF and deal with the problem afterwards. Much less stress that way.
