Default Fuel Level

Sending unit on my 3200SCR is NFG and gives unreliable tank levels. Until I get it replaced is there another way to determine the approx level in the tank.

Define unreliable. Boat fuel gauges are not that accurate as the fuel moves after when underway as well as slosh around when hitting wakes. The lower the fuel level the worse the reading.

Does it show full when filled?

Never showed full no more than 3/4. Cleaned up contacts but not much improvement.

It's more than likely the fuel sender, not the guage itself. I would start with that.

Remove the sense wire from the sender in the tank and ground it to see if the gauge goes to full, if so replace the sender.

Only way I've overcome the error in the reading is to top up, record the time/hours/etc in the log and then top up again.. After a few times, I've got a pretty good idea of burn rate and use that to calc what I may have left.
