Just a quick modification on the rear walk thru door...it has always been a pain in the *****.....and nobody could really sit in the rear starboard corner....had this cut and stainless piano hinge for $100....one of the best things I've done to this boat!!!!Click image for larger version

Nice! Is the hinge mortised in, or does it sit on top? I have my 3200 with the same problem, may do the same. Where did you pick up the SS hinge?

We have an acrylic shop here in town that makes the "plexiglass" boat windshields.....they just cut door in half and installed a stainless piano hinge with stainless screws. The only reason I contacted the professionals, I would have cracked or screwed up the door halfs installing the hinge screws. I can only guess that they pre drilled the holes and used a very specific size bit. Easiest $100 modification I've had done. I will still add a small strap with a snap to the door and the stern of the boat. The his door will be open for the most part and once it is folded and against the boat it really doesn't move.

Great idea! Will the door stay closed when the boat is hitting some wakes/waves?

I have not had any trouble with the door opening under way...I thought I might have to put a swing latch or something over the top of the door to keep it from moving at the hinge...but it does not move.
Gmc....check shipping to 86406....I would handle getting to the acrylic shop here....not sure it would be worth it....I would think you could find someone to at least cut the door local....

Great idea.

FYI, they make spring loaded piano hinges that would allow you to walk thru and close behind you....

Welcome aboard Rylie!!!!

This is not really in-line with the concept of a forum. It would be like walking up to a group of people talking about something, to ask someone to step away and discuss the same topic in private.

We all share openly for the benefit of the community.

HavaMax... you da man !!! Must admit the thought came to my mind a few times to try and figure something out for that knee busting door... but it usually passed after the Tequila wore off. Would you be so kind to give the dimensions of the piano hinge, length and width?

I broke my door trying to install a door stop. Does anybody knows what is the material it’s made of? Also, I can take off the hinges because they have these weird looking nuts. Any help ?
