Default Transducer Installation for a fish finder

Hi - does anyone know of the best place to install the transducer for my Lowrance fishfinder? I have a 1991 2300 SCR
We are thinking about doing the through hull method of epoxying the transducer to the inside of the hull.
If anyone can weigh in on the merits or otherwise, please do!
Thanks!!!

This is a clean method but you must be sure that no air bubbles are in the epoxy otherwise bad reading can occur.

Else a transom mount works fine.

This is about my 5th comment on where to mount your transducer on various boating forums that I read.

What Mike said is true and if that air bubble appears you are a screwed monkey and you will have lots of problems because of where and how that transducer is mounted.

So what do I recomend? Go with the transducer on the outside of the transom. It is a simple process if you do it yourself. Alot you tube to watch to see how its done. You will need some epoxy or 3M 4200 and a clamshell for your screws and holes that you drill. Figure out where to mount it on your dash and electrical hook up and you are done.

Good luck

If you are installing screws below the water line us 3M 5200, 4200 is good for above the water line.

The new unit should come with instructions.
