Default Shop Recomendations 2700SCR

Hello All!!!

Something broke or is starting to come apart in my out drive.

I have a 1990 2700SCR with a 454 and MerCruser out drive. If I had all winter (4-8 Saturdays) I would tear into it myself but the wife wants to be back on the water within a few weeks.

Anyone have a recommendation for a mechanic here in the Fort Worth / Dallas area? It's on a trailer so I am even willing to drive a few hours for a reputable mechanic.

Thanks!!!

It should be a Bravo 2 which is nearly bullet proof. Are you certain it’s the drive and not the gimbal bearing or u-joints?

What are the symptoms?

Talked with several mechanics today. All said the same thing Mike. I am taking it to one tomorrow afternoon to diagnose.

How can I tell if its a Bravo 1 or 2? Most people I talk to said it should be a Bravo one?

Transom Assembly Serial Number 0C891195
Stern Drive Serial Number 0D301816

Thanks

Chris

If the prop is over 16” in diameter it’s a Bravo 2. This drive was used on big cruisers before the Bravo 3 came out.

Bravo 1 is a performance drive for go fast boats.
