Default Forward Bilge Question

New boat owner of a 2000 2800 SCR. I have had an issue with a toilet leak that I know now is coming from a seal the leaks from incoming sea water when the bowl is filled. The water leaks down the shower drain, which I figure is going into the forward bilge. When I opened the forward hatch that exposes the seacock valve and bilge area, I see that there is a box that is enclosed with a bilge pump in it. This box is pretty much full of water. Is that normal? or should that be pumping out automatically? Any advice on what I need to be doing with this issue? If it is an issue? See attached pic...Click image for larger version

It should pump overboard automatically. You may have a switch that needs to be turned on as well. If no switch then you'll need to access the pump to see if the float switch is faulty or stuck.

This is the shower drain box and there is a red rocker switch in the head that should turn it on.

Ok, sounds good. I will look for the switch. Thank you!

That is the mid-ship bilge. The forward bilge is under the V-berth. One of the following is occurring:

1) There is no power to the pump/switch in the sump box.
2) float switch in the sumpbox is faulty.
3) Pump in the sumpbox is faulty
4) water is simply not high enough to trigger float switch.
