Default Discuss issues (if any) 1994 2700

Hello,

A friend is looking at a 1994 Maxum 2700. It has a big block in it with a bravo 2 leg. The boat is on a trailer... the hull looks very good, no scratches or marks.

The interior on the other hand looks like it was damp for a while... It might have been tarped too tightly for an extended period.

Stuff which maybe of concern... or not!

Aluminum fuel tank low down under aft cabin. If it developed a leak it would be major job to remove fix or replace. Historically has this been an issue?

Port side in the engine compartment, there is bare plywood showing... the gelcoat has flaked off exposing the wood.

No windlass...

The floor hatch cover in the main cabin is loose and pops into the whole when stepped on... water laying in bilge there. The boat could be bow down a bit right now.

Do these boats have wood stringers? Wood transoms?

Thanks for any help or insight you all can provide.

Cheers

Welcome aboard

Tarped, bow down, leaking hatch can all lead to damp cabin.

I have not heard of anyone complaining about a leaky fuel tank on this site.

IMO Maxum did not glass these shelves well in the engine compartment.

Yes wood structure but then from what I know all production boats were of this vintage.

I own a 1995 2400 SCR and the 70 gallon aluminum fuel tank has never been an issue. Maxum boats were built to the highest standard even 20 years ago.
