Default Aft storage area conversion

Happy New Year! I have the 2400SE. One thing I am looking at is converting the aft storage under the seat to a cooler. The previous owner installed a system to recirculate water as a fish-holding tank. Since the fridge in the galley is so small, I would like to insulate the aft storage area and use it to keep food an beverages on ice over a long weekend. Anyone out there tried something similar?

Thanks,
Mike S

I had thought of doing that with my 2700scr....my plan was to build a coffer dam under the tank and squeeze that expanding foam into and around it....
.let it set up and remove the dam and shave off the excess.....that would keep the ice a bit better...

Mike -

We too have a 2400SE and our aft storage area either came insulated from the factory, or the previous owner installed it. Ours is lined with 1" foam held tightly with what looks like double sided tape. I've used it as a cooler once.

The only downside is the small drainhose empties into the bilge, right on top of the back of the motor, which doesn't thrill me. I could re-route the hose to something thru-hull above the water line, but we store our fenders/lines/boathook in there. I only wish it was big enough to hold the magna grill!

Default Thanks for the ideas

Like everyone else in the Pacific NW, we are counting the days till the boat comes our or storage and into the water. We will have it on land for a few weeks before launch, so I will play around with the storage area and see what I can come up with. Just booked a slip for the season, so we will spend many grand hours out on Lake Coeur d' Alene this year. Can't wait!

I am very interested to see what you come up with. Unfortunately the previous owner installed the subwoofer in there. I would lie to see what sort of convenient access ideas you might have.
