Default '97 Maxum 2800 Outboard motor mount?

Here's another quandry I've encountered and I'm wondering if anyone here has found a workable solution:
I'm trying to find or figure out a way to mount my dinghy outboard (5hp merc 2stroke) somewhere on the transom of my 2800 scr. My challenge is: the 1997 model has the open railing around the aft seating area with little transom space to mount a bracket of any kind.

Has anyone with the same model managed to find or figure out something that works without conflicting with the cabin canvas?

Cool tender mount

what about the mount that swivels the motor as you lift the tender so it stays on the tender ????just a thought

THERE IT IS!!!..that is the best solution...they make a bracket that swivels as the dink is tilted up.....

Yes, that one is definitely the most likely candidate. I've looked at them, but the only reason I've continued to look for alternatives is the location of the additional weight. The Maxum 2800 is notoriously 'starboard heavy' I've noticed and the only reason I'd avoided picking up one of those swivel brackets, is becuase it places the motor weight on the starboard side.

If nothing else presents itself, that may be my best/only option.

I'll try to take some pics of how I mounted mine. Basically, what I did was take 3 of these:

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=10168

I used a piece of pressure treated wood and mounted it on the rail that attaches the bolster of the transom seat. Two are mounted on the horizontal bar and one on the vertical bar. They are screwed to the back of the PT board. I mounted on the starboard side of the transom. I only have a 2HP Honda OB. I'll update with some pics this weekend.

Good topic, I've been stowing mine in the engine compartment, on top of the waste tank.(somewhat of a hassle and starboard)

Mines a 7.5hp, it would be nice to have a system that would allow you to use this motor as a kicker off the swim platform.

The idea sounds pretty good Shrew. Do you have a canvas enclosure on your maxum? Does this bracket interfere with it or no?
The suggestion of the West Marine Fittings does stir a little creativity though.

Either way, I'll look forward to seeing some pics if you get a chance to post a couple.

Cheers!
