Both props turn the same direction on a 3000? What motors/drives do you have?

I am the second owner, the original owner is a relative of a friend and a very nice old guy named Carl. Carl told me he was after maximum features at maximum value per dollar.

My 1997 3000SCR is fitted with twin 4.3 V6s (carbed) married to Alpha I drives. Both my props are identical and interchange with out issue. I was a little upset when I found out so I called Uncle Carl to ask about drive replacement and he said they were OE.

Your surprise is shared by myself.

Wow, surprised it planes at all! Might be better to just keep it at displacement speed.

I had a 1993 Bayliner 3055 with Alphas so this will be a close comparison. The problem is a much with the drives as the engines. Alphas are not for big, heavy cruisers. I had 5.0 carb engines with, believe it or not, put out similar HP to your 4.3's. And it is torque, as much as HP needed.

With that said, I switched to a 4 blade prop and loved the difference. I also went up a bit in prop diameter as the more blade area the better in our situation. I no longer have the boat but if I remember correctly they were 14 7/8 15 pitch and that achieved 4600 max RPM's. I also switched to an all chain rode to aid some weight in the bow and also added a dedicated battery for the windlass. I had better hole shot with the 4 blade and was able to hold plane a slower speeds. And I ran the boat heavy with gear.

Make sure while getting up on step you have your tabs full down to push the bow down, then back off the tabs one up on plane.

iboat seems to have the best prices on props.

Hope this helps.
