Default 2400 scr forward berth "hatch"? not lifting up

On my 2400 scr the forward berth has that liftable hatch that is supposed to go up and stay up for someone to stick there head in and gain more room while sleeping.

Mine only goes up a few inches and does not stay up... Am I doing something wrong?

Cool hatch

turn the knobs on the side of the slider rods then tighten them.

I believe you are talking about the front cushion of the V-berth. There are two gas cylinders that assist and hold that up, I wonder if the gas cylinders are worn out? I couldn't imagine that the hinge has corroded that bad

I would just try to force it open, and then replace the gas cylinders.

Seapuppy, are you suggesting that little blue pill???

The first thing to remember is that it's not your fault. These things happen with age.

The difference between a noob and an experienced boater is that the experienced boater already found someone long ago to answer the same question for him. Ask much and frequently, then take the time to answer when someone else asks a question which you know the answer to. It's all about paying it forward. In fact, it's the very nature and purpose of a forum.

BTW, is that actually to extend the sleeping space or to access the anchor locker. I would hate to be violently awoken with that thing slamming on my head. TRy to reach inside. It either has spring latches, or gas rams. If they are gas rams, some may have forcibly closed the locker hatch with the tightening screws tight.

I'm not a noob, haha... Grew up working on sportfishing charters when I was young.. now I own a boat/yacht maintenance company as a job... I buy this so called "beginner boat"!!

I had a 21' Center Console last year as my first boat when I was 18-19

I know I wouldn't sleep under that thing lol... I have my master stateroom in the back!!
