Default 1997 2400 SCR - Coast Guard Ratings/Capcities

Hi I bought a 1997 Maxum 2400 SCR and it does not have the sticker showing for number of people or weight for the boat. Does anyone have the same boat or know the capacities? Also is it illegal to not have this displayed in the boat? Thanks, John

welcome to the zoo...

not sure as this is a fairly older boat.......but go to west marine and they probably have the stickers....you can also contact your local bayliner dealer who can look it up and possibly get some spares for you...

I have a 1997 2400 SCR also, I will take a picture of the plate, and post it. If I remember correctly it says 12 people or 1800 lbs.

You are not required to post a capacity plate on a 24 ft boat in the United States. (See Below).

Under the U.S. Coast Guard Federal Boat Safety Act of 1971, boats less than 20 feet powered with an inboard, outboard, or stern drive engine manufactured after November 1, 1972, must display a capacity plate defining the safe load limits. This plate must be mounted where you can see it when preparing to get underway. Sailboats, canoes, kayaks and inflatable boats are exempt from this standard states do have statutes prohibiting the carriage of people and gear in excess of the stated capacity, or the installation of a motor that exceeds the recommended horse power limit. Also, you may void your insurance policy if you are found to have exceeded the limits stated on your capacity plate.

My 2400 SC3 is rated at 11 or 1500# (I think it's 1500) but I have no idea where I'd actually put 11 bodies. It would be very tight.
